This recording is dedicated to the loving memory of Eric’s father, David Reed (May 17, 1933- April 21, 2002) Hey Pop, It’s weird how I was never prepared for the day to come when you would personally experience some of the concepts you used to sing about in those songs you taught me: “Lay my burdens down,” “One of these mornings…you’ll look for me and I’ll be gone,” “Nearer, my God, to Thee.” I get the feeling that you were completely prepared for it. I remember how we used to sing those songs on cross-country trips. On these trips, we had some of the greatest talks I ever remember having with you. How did you get to be so hip and wise? Keep a lookout, okay? Things are squirrely down here, as usual. And listen, don’t argue too much with God; trust me, you can’t win. One more thing – do me a favor – will you please sit down for five minutes and stop trying to fix the pearly gates? Your baby boy, Eric
