Tjeknavorian & Sibelius: Violin Concertos

Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, the son of composer-conductor Loris Tjeknavorian—whose *Violin Concerto* he plays here—is an impressive talent with a strong musical personality. His performance of the Sibelius concerto was singled out for a special prize at the 2015 Sibelius Violin Competition, where he finished second. He plays with terrific command and imagination, and the Frankfurt orchestra are superb partners. As they are in the much-less-familiar concerto by Tjeknavorian Senior, a work that draws on the composer’s Armenian heritage and the spirit of Iran, where he now lives. Emmanuel plays it with understandable affection and great style.
