Quilt Jams is a collection of spontaneous pieces of music, spared from being resampled, developed or produced in any excessive way. Most of the tracks were improvised in the moment or off the cuff using guitar, vocals and loopers. The completely wordless EP is effectively born from a love of making music to warm the soul and externalize feelings, with several tracks created live during practice sessions for Elsa Hewitt's audio-visual collaboration with artist Sam Boullier, and others created whilst working on live sets and going off on tangents. The EP name reflects its comforting atmosphere as well as the purpose, or lack thereof, behind its creation. Far from being intended to take over the world, it is Elsa Hewitt's most modest piece of work, however it precedes an upcoming album, also 13 tracks long, which could be regarded as the other side of the coin, or the audacious, high-energy offspring.
