The Motorship Stubnitz is an 80 meters long ex-DDR fishing vessel transformed in 1992 into a moving platform for cultural research and exchange. Originally built in 1964 in the former East German city of Stralsund and weighing in at over two and half thousand tons the Stubnitz “roving neutral venue” travels from its homeport of Rostock around the Baltic and North Sea, physically networking with cities such as Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Newcastle , Hamburg, St. Petersburg, and London. In addition to concerts, the Stubnitz would often present raves and dance parties. Below deck, there is large dance floor and an even larger sound system providing massive hi-fi clarity. www.stubnitz.com Sharp intersected with the Stubnitz during a brief residency in Hamburg during October 2015 where he also presented lectures, radio interviews, and a concert performance of his graphic score in the form of a movie, Sylva Sylvarum. For this concert, Sharp plugged his Aria Sinsonido electroacoustic guitar directly into the sound system through a small set of audio processors including the Eventide PitchFactor and making use of his EBow, slides, springs, plates, and other objects.
