Made In Brazil
*Made in Brazil* is surprisingly the first album in Eliane Elias’s 30-year solo career made in her homeland. Not surprisingly, the mix of jazz and Brazilian music gracefully shimmies and sways to the country’s rhythms as Elias’s voice skips across the top. She adds a couple of Jobim tunes, lustrous elements of lite R&B (in the form of singers Take 6 and Ed Motta), and rich orchestral arrangements, and she even gets funky on electric piano. Highlights range from two Arry Barroso gems (“Brasil” and “No Tabuleiro da Baiana”) written in the \'30s to the lush modern pop originals “Vida (If Not You)” and “Incendiando.”
