An underground vet who debuted with the ABB 12-inch \"Bionic\" back in 1995, Defari is a close affiliate of Dilated Peoples, Planet Asia, and Tha Alkaholiks, and also one-half of Likwit Junkies with DJ Babu. Staunchly representing Los Angeles, his style is neither hardcore gangster nor backpack nerd: just straight-ahead hip-hop with an emphasis on big beats, basic rhymes, and plenty of Golden State boom-bap. Like the previous albums *Odds & Evens* and *Focused Daily*, *Street Music* has collaborations with longtime co-conspirators The Alchemist, Evidence, J Ro, and Babu, with verses focusing mostly on lyrical superiority, the state of the game, California love, and a hearty appetite for drink and smoke. While not extraordinary groundbreaking, it\'s still a typically enjoyable listen, with standout tracks like \"Deepest Regrets\" (featuring B-Real), \"Vultures,\" \"Big Burn,\" and \"West West.\"
