It\'s deadmau5\'s passion for the full spectrum of electronic music that truly sets him apart from his EDM peers. From hair-raising tech-house to muscle-relaxing ambience, he jams a little bit of everything into his seventh full-length release, with the emphasis on *full*. At two-plus hours, with two fully mixed versions of each LP, *While (1<2)* is a monster. Part one is where you\'ll find the floor-fillers: \"Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer\" and \"Phantoms Can\'t Hang\" are enormous peak-hour tracks with clobbering bass. The producer branches out on part two, mixing in melancholy pianos and even distorted guitars. The stirring \"Invidia\" is a contemplative instrumental in the vein of Philip Glass, while \"Seeya\" is funky electro house. This is deadmau5\'s most adventurous album to date, which is saying something for this Indiana Jones of EDM.
With big mask (a mouse head) and big ego (Twitter wars, often bites the festival-owning hands that feed him, and enters the Gumball rally with a Ferrari with the Nyan cat meme garishly painted all over it), Deadmau5 aka Joel Thomas Zimmerman is the man EDM haters love to hate, that is, if Skrillex isn't around.
while (1<2) is so huge, portentous, and varnished within an inch of its life that it can’t possibly fail, until it does.
