Contemporary R&B
Coming out of Puerto Rico by way of Philadelphia, Dalex first emerged alongside fellow singer/rapper Jayma, adding a splash of smooth R&B to street-rocking reggaetón on a string of albums between 2014 and 2016. Since going solo, he\'s dropped three EPs in rapid succession throughout 2018, and *La Nueva Ola* is the tightest, catchiest summation so far of his melodic take on Latin trap. Even when the beats get stark on a slow jam like “Vuelva a Ver,” Dalex fills the empty space with luscious synths and his seductive flow, while the acoustic bounce of “Victoria” and the digital balladry of “Por Ti” push him closer than ever toward irresistible, summery pop.
