With its roared raps, metalhead-reverent production, and unsettling fixation on Larry Clark’s shocking filmography, the previous City Morgue project *HELL OR HIGH WATER* throttled anyone foolish enough to get in the way of their full-scale aural riot. And while SosMula and ZillaKami certainly haven’t softened for this follow-up, *As Good As Dead* finds the New York duo channeling their macabre energy somewhat differently. Executive-produced by longtime Kanye West comrade Mike Dean, this second volume explores a broader range of sinister sounds alongside signature urban-horror scares like “Dirtnap” and “Thresh.\" “The Give Up” is imbued with a singsong creepiness, while “The Balloons” gives off gothic ghoulishness.
