Sulfur Studies

While rehearsing for live streamed performances during quarantine in April 2020, I dug into a new practice of subjecting my (usually) tightly controlled methods to a certain degree of entropy: running a string quintet recording through a self-generating analog synth patch, or allowing a fragile pedal steel drone to become enveloped in waves of noise and distortion... This approach - a little bit of surrender - seems fitting for a time when the path forward is so uncertain. In May Day solidarity with those who are on the front lines, and with those who don't know how the rent will be paid.
