CFCF\'s *On Vacation*, released on Ibiza\'s International Feel label, picks up where *The Colours of Life* left off: Floating atop a cushion of reverb, it’s a buoyant investigation of Balearic music at its dreamiest. The pitter-pat congas and balmy guitar riffs of \"Fleurs Laisses Dans Un Taxi\" and \"Pleasure Centre\" evoke Sade; the synths and acoustic guitars of \"Vermont\" recall \'80s new age music. \"Sate Padang\" braids soprano sax, marimba, and fretless bass into a sunny waltz, while the ambient \"In the Courtyard\" has serious emotional depth for a two-minute miniature.
Vacation, the second in a new series of mini-albums for the Ibiza-based International Feel label, is rich with Balearic textures: marimbas, choral synth pads, creamy soprano sax, acoustic guitars run through shimmering digital reverb. It takes cues from genre staples like Penguin Café Orchestra, Wally Badarou, and Sade.
