Cayamo Sessions At Sea
The backstory is too good: a music-themed Caribbean cruise that\'s packed with some of country and folk’s finest—all hanging, jamming, and being recorded by Buddy Miller. You can nearly feel the sway of the ship as he and Kris Kristofferson ease into a ragged rendition of the latter’s “Sunday Morning Coming Down.” Lucinda Williams tackles country-rock classic “Hickory Wind” and turns in a haunted performance worthy of a ghost ship. Brandi Carlile and The Lone Bellow close out the set with a gospel-infused “Angel from Montgomery” that oozes soul.
Buddy Miller has been a frequent performer at the festival, and with a number of like-minded musicians out to sea for a week, he often found himself swapping tunes with his fellow performers.
These Caribbean cruise recordings are a fine showcase of the best voices country music has to offer
