Skullage
Drawn from various release and lineups over the course of Zakk Wylde’s 12-year solo career, *Skullage* traces Wylde’s communication with the gods of classic rock music. While his first few solo albums revived the tricks of Hendrix and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wylde was soon achieving new levels of savagery with Black Label Society, the outfit that dominates this program. This compilation contains some of the band’s greatest works: “Bleed for Me” (from *1919 Eternal*), “Stillborn” (from *The Blessed Hellride*), and “In This River,” which is dedicated to Wylde’s colleague and friend, Pantera guitarist “Dimebag Darrell” Abbott, who was murdered onstage in 2004. The acoustic material represented by “Dead As Yesterday” and “Won’t Find It Here” subsequently became an integral part of Wylde’s live show. The bonus tracks here show him transforming “The Blessed Hellride” and “Stillborn” into haunting, shimmering acoustic works that recall Alice in Chains and Led Zeppelin at their most mystical.
Skullage is a compilation/live album of Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, although the first two songs are from Wylde's solo career and side project Pride and Glory.
