Prisma tropical
Operating from New York\'s vibrant indie scene but steeped in the club beats of their native Puerto Rico, Balún aptly dubbed their style \"dreambow\" (read: dream-pop + dembow), swirling layers of shoegaze noise over reggaetón-inspired grooves. Over their decade-plus evolution, resident IDM fan José Olivares melded his computerized rhythms and immersive ambiance to Nora Ruiz\'s waist-winding Latin funk bass and Raul Raymundi\'s bright guitar riffs, in the process moving from headphone-friendly bedroom project to club-rocking live unit. On this expansive and ethereal second album, the group master a beguiling mix of twinkling melodies, sweetly cooed vocals from Angélica Negrón, and sensuous thump. You can lose yourself in their perfect chill-out pop (\"Teletransporte\"), but it\'s also hard to resist the body-moving pulse of their tropical confections (\"Anos Atras\").
