Brad Deschamps, the good human behind anthéne and Toronto’s Polar Seas Recordings label returns to Lillerne with virtue, a followup to 2017’s cassette, fade. Joining Deschamps on virtue is cellist Amahl Arulanandam, whose stunning work on this cassette adds new depth to Deschamps’ already deeply lush and moving compositions. Subtle arrangements are expanded and built within an airy, but satisfyingly full space in which both cello and synth work complement each other and form to create some sincerely impressive ambient work. Haunting and moving in all the right ways. “weathered” will no doubt be the Official Tearjerker™ of spring.
