Cellist Anne Gastinel, pianist Nicholas Angelich, and violinist Gil Shaham give us an impressive Triple Concerto, the trio working as one and hugely helped by Paavo Järvi’s buoyant orchestral accompaniment. This is music of infectious flair and spirit, and it dazzles in this fine recording. Gastinel and Angelich are then joined by the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Principal Clarinet Andreas Ottensamer for a lovely performance of the early Op. 11 Trio. They clearly relish the finale’s theme and variations, a movement that gives them all a turn in the spotlight.
