Nome de Guerra

The second volume of my solo guitar series, Nome De Guerra (war name or combat name), is in part an homage to Almada Negreiros´ novel with the same title. The idea of a personal innermost ("íntimo pessoal"), that Almada talks about: something of our very own, sacred, unattainable by others, and that blossoms into our own individuality and personality, resonated with me for a long time. "Com o seu íntimo pessoal cada um poderá estar em toda a parte (...)" - (with a strong personal innermost one can be everywhere), he says in a fascinating paragraph. This recording is the second installment of a personal journey that started with Múquina last year. In fact, I may have been contemplating such path for a good number of years, but, for an amount of reasons, while I could clearly see it, I was always drawn away from it. Playing solo guitar and working some of these songs brought me to a primitive state that I experienced on my early days of playing and listening to music. A very familiar place, an abstraction, which I, somehow, have been partly neglecting in my adulthood.
