Under Stars

She may have made fans wait for this fourth album of resplendent folk-pop heartmelters—it comes a long five years after *Life in a Beautiful Light*—but you can hear Amy Macdonald’s growth and considered care in every corner of *Under Stars*. The title track packs a triumphant country stomp, “Leap of Faith” rides an improbably smooth guitar line, and “Automatic” (perhaps nodding to the two Ferraris in Macdonald’s garage) evokes the freewheeling road anthems of a bygone age.
