‘The way in which you quit it rewrote the story of your life in a negative form. Those who knew you reread each of your acts in the light of your last. Henceforth, the shadow of this tall black tree hides the forest that was your life. When you are spoken of, it begins with recounting your death, before going back to explain it. Isn’t it peculiar how this final gesture inverts your biography?” From ‘Suicide’ by Edouard Levé, translated by Jan Steyn this album was written, recorded, and mixed by sam ray all music & lyrics by sam ray cover art, booklet artwork & photos by sam ray mastered by will killingsworth

5.5 / 10

The album Sam Ray envisioned as his last begs close listening, but punctuated with impenetrable harshness, it is almost prohibitively scattered.

Fucking Bliss is the second album to be released under the name American Pleasure Club, following 2018's A Whole Fucking Lifetime of This, but it was actually recorded by bandleader Sam Ray in 2015, when his group was still known as Teen Suicide.
