"Celestially Light" is a result of two and a half years of preparations, recording, composing, thinking, sending e-mails, travelling and dreaming. All of that has taken place in three countries on two continents. The double CD album features a series of songs and instrumental tracks and a long, 40-minute ambient piece for piano and flute. The idea for this album is inspired by work of Satoshi Ashikawa, Japanese ambient and minimalist composer. Looking from a modern perspective on the concept of sound design as described by Ashikawa, on "Celestially Light" I wanted to find a balance of musical narrative, expression and ambient quality. The name "Celestially Light" comes from Toru Takemitsu's piano piece "Rain Tree Sketch II" and those two words became a kind of manifesto for what I intend to present in this album - music that is sparkling, delicate, quiet... celestially light. credits
