If In Doubt Yes: The Corner of a Sphere Live & Remixed
(Streaming available from 28th Jan, CD available from 2nd Feb) Recorded at the legendary Total Refreshment Centre, live at the album launch at the height of the PEACH development sessions, the live tunes are accompanied here by remixes from Rozi Plain, Hira Ama (Teleman) and Thomas Ragsdale. Also present are alternate cuts of album studio material, thanks to Alabaster's live approach to recording development. Gilles Peterson attended the concert recorded here and said: “I had a discovery this week … i went to a venue and i discovered something new. I discovered a guy who’s made four albums, and it blew my mind. I walked into this venue, and there was a sort of round circle with some of the most amazing musicians performing together, including members of The Comet Is Coming, and various sort of musicians from both Manchester and London and they were surrounding the music of an artist called Alabaster dePlume. And I’m going to make his new record my record of the week. It’s called The Corner Of a Sphere. Now, it’s got a little bit of Morrissey in it, it’s got a bit of Tom Waits in it, it’s got a little bit of Stewart Lee in it. The guy absolute blew my mind this week. Album of the week, for me, GP!” Gilles Peterson, BBC 6Music
