Geomind
"Portland producer Hunter Thompson's latest LP offering as Akasha System is both a distillation of and divergence from his elegantly illusory eco-tronica. Inspired by extensive desert treks up and down the west coast, the album's nine tracks sway and shimmer like horizon line mirages, enigmas of motion and distance, wavy and widescreen: Geomind. Thompson cites scenes of “desolate terrain, spectrum sunrises, and strange sightings in the vastness of the sky” as mood board reference points, which translate in the album's spaciousness and surreality, sculpting glassy synthetic currents into rhythmic voyages of futurist melancholy. Each song surfs its own strain of shadowy syncopated percussion, sidewinding beneath latticeworks of Kalimba, harp, and flute, flickering between dance music and dreamscape, and lingering at the threshold where one becomes the other." -Britt Brown
