Wild Light
The incredible 6th studio album from experimental electronic-post-rock legends 65daysofstatic 'Wild Light' sees them return with their hybrid of pulsating beats, shattering crescendos and delicate melody in a new form. The band have crafted an other-wordly record that stands apart from their catalogue, whilst being quintessentially 65. Never repeating themselves across 6 albums, 65daysofstatic remain a unique and spectacular act amongst their peers. Sheffield's premier purveyors of post-rock return with their most ambitious effort to date.
“No one knows what is happening...” repeats a ghostly voice at the start of Wild Light. A bleak way to begin, you could reason, but then the synth kicks in: big, blustering, almost operatic in its futuristic grandeur, stately in gait. The vocal sample implies nihilism and helplessness; the music suggests it’s not too late, or at the very least, we can make a bit of a racket until it is.
Bearing more than a passing resemblance to fellow Brit noise merchants Fuck Buttons, 65daysofstatic is aiming for higher ground on its fifth studio album.
